Cycle Project

We provide bicycles for children from war affected families who have to walk more than three kilometres to attend school.

Educational Support to below poverty level children

We run assistance programs to support education of needy children in war affected areas – activities include: School breakfast/lunch program; financial support to cover educational expenses.

Family support to severely disable people

Living Support Program for severely disabled people and war widows for the last eight years and in the future. Support includes: Ongoing monthly financial support to assist with medical expenses and educational expenses for children of affected families.

Farming equipment to Women headed families

Livelihood Program for war affected families through grants to setup small businesses. Support includes: Setup backyard farming including vegetable, poultry and dairy farming including provision of machinery such as sewing machines, water pumps etc.; and constructing wells to provide drinking water facilities to families and communities.

Poultry

Livelihood support was given to persons disabled during the war, to setup income generating activities like, tailoring, rearing poultry, goats or cows.

School

Kalaimahal Vidyalayam Mulliyavallai in Mullaitheevu, was destroyed during the war, so temporary sheds were created for students to attend classes. Since then, one of Vanni Rehabilitation’s Australian sponsors has provided financial support to build 3 permanent classrooms at a cost of Rs.3 million. Children have started attending classes in these rooms since April 2016.

Well for Drinking Water

A well was constructed to support a disabled person to provide drinking water to her family and the community.It appears more than 20 families around the housing area using the water from this well.

Recycle Loans

Recycle Loans are continuously paid to women in Puthukkudiyirupu, to develop their small business.

Provision Of Educational Material To Kili/ Kariyalai Nagapaduwan,Government Tamil School,Pallavarayankaddu  And Providing Educational Materials To Valaipaadu Evening School.

Monthly allowance to disabled people

Vanni Rehabilitation has also set up small businesses, initiated projects and assisted with business tools. For example-The Livelihood Project – this has provided the recipient with chicken cages and livestock to help them earn a living Provided machinery, such as sewing machines, water pumps, etc.

Computers and workstations

We provided Computers and workstations for students in Manthuvil Arasaratnam Mahavidyalayam , Mullaitheevu.

Evening School

An evening school was built back in 2012 at Vettilaikerni a coastal village in Vadamaradchi for 110 children. Most of them lost one or both parents during the war, so Vanni Rehabilitation is assisting by providing regular meals to the children who attend classes.

Snacks Providing

A Vettilaikerni model was introduced to other remote villages, whereby the evening and weekend classes held provided snacks to 120 displaced children attending Colombuthurai Hindu Maha Vithyalayam and St Joseph Vithyalayam.
