Farming equipment to Women headed families
Livelihood Program for war affected families through grants to setup small businesses. Support includes: Setup backyard farming including vegetable, poultry and dairy farming including provision of machinery such as sewing machines, water pumps etc.; and constructing wells to provide drinking water facilities to families and communities.
School
Kalaimahal Vidyalayam Mulliyavallai in Mullaitheevu, was destroyed during the war, so temporary sheds were created for students to attend classes. Since then, one of Vanni Rehabilitation’s Australian sponsors has provided financial support to build 3 permanent classrooms at a cost of Rs.3 million. Children have started attending classes in these rooms since April 2016.
Monthly allowance to disabled people
Vanni Rehabilitation has also set up small businesses, initiated projects and assisted with business tools. For example-The Livelihood Project – this has provided the recipient with chicken cages and livestock to help them earn a living Provided machinery, such as sewing machines, water pumps, etc.
